Al grew up in the deep south and commissioned into the United States Army as an active duty Armor Officer from the ROTC program at Florida State University, where he also played rugby. After graduating from the Army Reconnaissance Course and serving as a Tank Platoon Leader and an Assistant Professor of Military Science, Al briefly worked at a commercial software firm before being returned to Active Duty through the Ohio National Guard. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Florida State, a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville, and a Juris Doctorate from Penn State Law where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned multiple concentrations in commercial and corporate law as well as advocacy. He had the special privilege of taking three courses under Sam Thompson, Jr., one of the preeminent Mergers & Acquisition authorities in the country. He also competed internationally on the Vis Moot International Commercial Arbitration team.
Before founding Mountain & Valley Law, Al was a litigator at Goetz, Geddes & Gardner in Bozeman, working primarily in corporate and commercial litigation. Al has very fond memories of his time in the Army and is always excited to meet Montana’s wonderful veterans. He does his best every day to invoke the qualities, skills, and virtues of military service for the benefit of his clients. He is blessed with a beautiful family and attends Grace Bible Church in Bozeman. He enjoys hiking, bluegrass, and literature.
